Team Freestyle

Team Freestyle is a group of talented, dedicated and highly motivated young athletes from San Diego. Hand-picked by Sensei Will Jackson of Freestyle Martial Arts, team members have demonstrated the natural talent and work ethic needed to become national champions in martial arts. The team reflects the diversity and cultural richness of San Diego and includes boys and girls ranging in age from 8 to 19 years old.

Team Freestyle as a philosophy, began in 2005 with coach Jackson's first student, Jacob Ellis. Jacob Ellis went on to win multiple world championships, while establishing himself as one of the iconic Musical Forms competitors of this generation. He went to experience a successful career as a Hollywood stunt performer. Coach Jackson's second student, Kaelyn Whaley, went on to win 18 world championships. During her run, she also led her Demonstration team to back to back ISKA world titles in 2016 - 2017.

In 2008, a formal team was established (Team Freestyle) with the intention to bring Coach Jackson's training methodologies to scale amongst the top students of Freestyle Martial arts. Today, Team Freestyle has won over 50 titles as a team. It's individual members have amassed hundreds more.

Team Freestyle, serves our community in many different ways. They represent San Diego in the world's largest martial arts competitions. They perform locally on the field with the San Diego Padres every July. They perform at corporate banquets and conventions such as the San Diego EDC annual dinner. Team Freestyle is and will continue to be a pillar of the San Diego community, representing, excellence, courage, diversity, and leadership.
